STAGE 7 · LESSON 1 OF 5

Define goals and constraints

A trading plan begins with what you can afford to risk—not a desired paycheck.

THE IDEA~8–12 MINUTES

Understand it

Write why you are studying the market and what failure would look like. Specify discretionary risk capital only, weekly time availability, instrument suitability, knowledge gaps and practical obligations. Keep the distinction between learning milestones and revenue aspirations. Trading capital should not come from money needed for housing, food or essential obligations.

WORKED EXAMPLE

A learner has two hours after work for research. The plan should be designed around that schedule, not assume constant screen watching. A decision to remain in simulation is a valid outcome.

Watch for this misconception

Setting a monthly income target and then sizing trades backward to force it.

PRACTICE EXERCISE

Write a realistic learning objective and one financial boundary you will not cross.
